Terry Moore, a 25 year 100 ton USCG licensed ocean operator of mechanical and auxiliary sailing vessels, as early as 1960 began his extensive marine related background under the direction of his father (Lightning Moore) a lifelong Galveston Bay Shrimper, boat builder and marine enthusiast. With an associate’s degree in engineering drafting and continued studies at the University of Houston, Terry furthered his marine related education by directing and managing the Texas Division of Chrysler Corporation Marine sponsored water ski shows. With hands on involvement in vessel and equipment design, development, construction, testing and supported by the education division of Chrysler Marine, numerous marine skills were developed. With the completion of an extensive marine vessel surveying apprenticeship in and around the South Texas area and under the direction of Roy Newberry, Sr. & Jr. of Newberry Marine, Terry officially began performing Condition and Valuation yacht surveys in approximately 1979 and joined the Society of Marine Surveyors (SAMS) in 1990 and continues to present. Terry’s broad and extensive marine industry background also includes his involvement in a marina ownership/management, One Design and PHRF sailboat racing, and tournament sport-fishing. Terry’s extensive offshore experience includes a variety of craft – from high performance café racers, blue water trawlers and motor yachts, cruising and high performance racing sailboats and multihulls to ultimate bluewater sport fishing yachts. Terry has logged over 400,000 ocean miles across the waters of the U.S. East Coast, Gulf of Mexico (complete), Bahamas, Lower Caribbean, Winward Islands and Central America. Terry also achieved the position of certified PADI open water Scuba Instructor and American Sailing Association Keel Boat Sailing Instructor.
